It rained most of this weekend. Friday Elana and my mum and I went Christmas shopping which was expensive and fun and Elana is the only one who's got any presents so far - her first birthday is two weeks before Christmas so yeah... We're about to leave the shopping centre when we notice it's bucketing down rain so I call Nick who looks up bom.gov.au and finds that in 10minutes time there will be a gap in the rain which should be enough time to get home. 10 minutes after we got home it starte...

We were shopping in Myer the other day when it struck Nick that Elana doesn't realise she's a baby. She was in her pram but she was getting a bit restless so we took her out and carried her while walking around Myer and down to the changerooms. So she's looking around and all of sudden she just starts laughing there's a litttle boy who seemed to be about 3-4 years old waiting with his parent to get into the lift also. We get out of the lift and see more children and Elana starts laughing ...

Well that's not exactly true I've written a few invisible articles but I haven't felt anything to say publicly. Plus I suck at coming up with titles for blogs. So I had a pretty ordinary week post funerals - did all the usual stuff. Nick and the boys have been going out every couple of days and playing soccar, kicking a football, running around the oval - they're trying to get fit they're all worried about having heart attacks before they're 30 because they're all ITish type guys (engineer...

Don't you hate it when you do something stupid like click the refresh button on the window you have just spent 10 minutes typing out a blog only to lose it *sigh* (will now attempt to retype said blog) It's been a really strange week. So Wednesday (I think) my mum called to say that my Grandma's older sister had passed away (my Grandma died in 1997) and she'd call me again when she knew the funeral details. Then Saturday morning my dad called me to tell me that my Grandad's older sister ...

Well I've been thoroughly examined. I'm just way to tired to anything but lie and watch Elana playing - so I'm lying down and Elana crawls over to me and I bounce her on my tummy for a while until I colapse in a heap of exhaustion. So she plays with my hands and then her own, then she discovers the buttons on my jeans so she spends another 5minutes playing with those, then she discovers my belly button so she spends another 3-5minutes poking that then she tries to poke out my eyes and then sh...

I strew some toys on the floor of her bedroom and a couple in the hallway and she has followed the toys and is no away from the front door and sitting quietly on her bedroom floor playing with her inflatable tiger pool, an empty cd case and an old envelope -- these are not the toys I put down for her to play with by the way

How can I make my little girl understand that no matter how long she sits at the front door smiling laughing and calling his name that it's only 11am and her Daddy won't be home from work untill dinner time. Everytime I bring her back down and try to distract her with books and toys songs and games - a few minutes later and she's off again - I try and explain Daddy won't be home for HOURS but she just looks up at me with a grin and turns back to the door just waiting waiting waiting

I think it's safe to say that at 9months my daughter already has a strong personality - she's very dominent - Bossy even. In the past couple of weeks she's been dictating her own pattern -- Bottle at 11am - sure okay but I'm going to drink it on and off until 1:30 -- and I probably won't finish it This is because I'm mobile - I can roll over to both sides, I can crawl, I can creep, I can sit up and bop on my bottom and I can stand on my hands and feet - with all this movement I can do -...

My 8month old said so Elana has this box - it's a hard cardboard gift box she got from Jess - it had shoes and some other stuff in it when she was born -- its purple glittery paper -- and yesterday Elana started pulling the paper off the box (we've been using it to hold her toy) I took the piece she ripped off her yesterday and distracted her with other toys and she was fine. This morning she decided to pull more paper off the box - she had the box on her lap and she was scratching at the...

Is there anything sweeter then a freshly changed (ie non smelly) 8month old who's just in a nappy (diaper) and a tshirt and a dummy (pacifier) and has managed to bop all the way to the other side of the room and is trying to untie the laces on your shoes while "singing" along with the radio? Gosh I love her

Today just to see what she'd do I gave Elana a milk arrowroot biscuit for mornign tea -- My friend gives her child mushed up milk arrowroot biscuits with applesauce instead of rice cereal because neither of her children liked rice cereal but I gave Elana a whole milk arrowroot biscuit (cookie) - I put it in her mouth so she knew to eat it and she took it off me and put it in her mouth and proceeded to gnaw on it like she does a rusk - and really its a softer sweeter rusk. But the funny t...
