How can I make my little girl understand that no matter how long she sits at the front door smiling laughing and calling his name that it's only 11am and her Daddy won't be home from work untill dinner time.

Everytime I bring her back down and try to distract her with books and toys songs and games - a few minutes later and she's off again - I try and explain Daddy won't be home for HOURS but she just looks up at me with a grin and turns back to the door just waiting waiting waiting

awww! How cute! Let her wait. She'll get bored soon enough. Right?

You'd think so wouldn't you Christine - I brought her back a few minutes ago to have something to eat - she'd been there for about 20minutes - I'd go back and forth to check on her - the doors locked and missing a handle so she can't get out and noone can get in - I scrubbed it with pine-o-clean and detol so she's safe but she's so happy just sitting there and I don't want to disappoint her - Nick won't be home until at least 4pm - which is at least 4hours away (11:44am) Meanwhile she just sits waiting and calling dadadadadad

*laughs*...that is cute. Daddy's girl? Hmmmm...just let her wait would be my idea (as a non-parent of course). Maybe just ignore the behavior...she'll figure out that she can't have your attention and wait for Dad at the door, too? I have no idea.
