I was reading to Elana before she went to bed tonight - Natalie's school had a fete on the weekend and Val (nick's mum) was in charge of the bookstall - so she gave us some of the books that were left for Elana. One of them was One fish, two fish, red fish blue fish. -- Which I'm sure I must have read as a kid but I didn't really remember it -- I know I only had one Dr Seuss book as a child -- and I only liked one -- and they weren't the same -- I had the Cat in the hat comes back and I love...

Okay hate is a very strong word -- but out of the three colours green is my very least favourite -- but I will eat them -- Nick threw his away. Yellow Clinkers (Allens lollies chocolate covered sugary marzipan) are my absolutely favourite - they're pineapple flavoured, followed by the pink rasberry (which are Nick's favouite) and then the green which I have no idea what flavour its supposed to be - doesn't taste limey or appley - just green. The big problem with a packet of clinkers is ...

I love my husband -- He is my favourite grown up person on this planet but it FLAWS me that he hates!! vegemite. How can any redblooded Australian hate vegemite?!?!?!? Aren't vegemite sandwiches the main staple of any Australian kids diet - didn't we all take vegemite sandwiches for lunch at school. it's amazing -- Vegemite puts a rose in every cheek - The vitamin B in Vegemite helps kids grow up stronger. It wakes you up - makes you feel great - wash it down with a glass of milo (mo...

My 8month old said so Elana has this box - it's a hard cardboard gift box she got from Jess - it had shoes and some other stuff in it when she was born -- its purple glittery paper -- and yesterday Elana started pulling the paper off the box (we've been using it to hold her toy) I took the piece she ripped off her yesterday and distracted her with other toys and she was fine. This morning she decided to pull more paper off the box - she had the box on her lap and she was scratching at the...

It's 9:22am - I've been up since 6:30 and I'm having one of those who can be stuffed doing anything kind of days. The problem with the internet is you can't communicate HOW you're speaking so the person on the other end could take something you think you're saying calmly - as angrilly or incensed. To clarify - if anyone reads this -- I'm not taking sides - I understand it is anyone's perogitive to delete and blacklist whomever they want for whatever reason they wish. I did however agr...

In the past couple of weeks I haven't been so excited about blogging or even reading other peoples blogs on JU as I had previously been. All that SPM vs the housewives stuff, and the Emma/Ashlee stuff has kinda made it no so fun anymore. When I tried to write about things happening in my life that had nothing to do with Elana I got slammed by two anonymous people who somehow stumbled onto my blog (and it wasn't through referrals) and it was back up by a "friend" I think what hurt the most...

Is there anything sweeter then a freshly changed (ie non smelly) 8month old who's just in a nappy (diaper) and a tshirt and a dummy (pacifier) and has managed to bop all the way to the other side of the room and is trying to untie the laces on your shoes while "singing" along with the radio? Gosh I love her

Today just to see what she'd do I gave Elana a milk arrowroot biscuit for mornign tea -- My friend gives her child mushed up milk arrowroot biscuits with applesauce instead of rice cereal because neither of her children liked rice cereal but I gave Elana a whole milk arrowroot biscuit (cookie) - I put it in her mouth so she knew to eat it and she took it off me and put it in her mouth and proceeded to gnaw on it like she does a rusk - and really its a softer sweeter rusk. But the funny t...

I just don't understand the athletes who test positive to drugs. Particularly the ones who take a vitamin/herbal supplement or something and say - Oh I wasn't aware there was a banned substance in that. CHECK IT OUT Look if you're career is important to you surely you wouldn't jeopardise your chances of going further and possibly winning Olympic Gold by taking a cold & flu tablet with a banned substance. When I was pregnant I looked up everything -- I made sure there was nothing i...

Well I'm glad you asked -- Currently she's sleeping -- it's almost 10:30pm so she'd want to be right -- she goes to bed at 7pm and we get her up at 7am -- I think she actually wakes up around 5am but if she doesn she doesn't cry out for us or anything just plays quietly in her cot. A friend who hasn't seen us in a while asked me how she was tonight and I made a list [7:52:32 PM] hows your little one [7:53:21 PM] She's great - she's asleep [7:53:39 PM] she's so big now - 8months ...

I just went to the mailbox and I got a postcard - it was very exciting and I read it and it's from Karen (dharma) She's got good handwriting -- she writes in capitals like I do. It's a picture of Mt Rushmore -- which I'd only ever seen on TV - it's pretty cool Thanks Dharma I'll have to return the favour - I think even I could manage THAT much
