Well I'm glad you asked -- Currently she's sleeping -- it's almost 10:30pm so she'd want to be right -- she goes to bed at 7pm and we get her up at 7am -- I think she actually wakes up around 5am but if she doesn she doesn't cry out for us or anything just plays quietly in her cot.

A friend who hasn't seen us in a while asked me how she was tonight and I made a list

[7:52:32 PM] hows your little one
[7:53:21 PM] She's great - she's asleep
[7:53:39 PM] she's so big now - 8months -- she does cute things -- she likes to explore
[7:53:44 PM] she loves to read
[7:55:04 PM] she loves to pull everything out of the box and play with the last thing she pulls out
[7:55:39 PM] if somethings been tidied she'll mess it up - she's fascinated by Nick, the dining chairs and fluff and leaves
[7:55:56 PM] cool
[7:56:27 PM] she LOVES hi5 and will sit there and watch the whole 20minutes bouncing along with the music -- sometimes she tries to get into the tv
[7:56:50 PM] lol
[7:56:56 PM] thats so funny
[7:57:05 PM] and she has her own computer keyboard to bang on because she loves computers
[7:57:06 PM] i've seen a kid try to get into the tv b4
[7:57:09 PM]
[7:57:56 PM] she fascinates me no end - she's always doing weird stuff

And Sally and I were talking about her neice who's 2days younger then Elana - just 2 days -- and all the crazy stuff that they get up to like disconnecting phone calls and not talking when you put them on the phone to talk to Nana even though they try to grab the phone out of your hands
And how they're so fascinated with remote controls -- even Kenny (Jamie Burnside's son) loves remotes

I love that Elana just HAS to get to the dining room chairs and she's so cute how she just scratches at the wood like a cat.

Remember Red Dwarf - My daughter is The Cat -- she's exactly like the cat -- she's so funny -- and she's fascinated with her feet.

I love how she wiggles and rolls and half crawls from the mat to the back door stopping to play with the legs of the table/chair/telescope and I love how she plays with the stray leaves that somehow manage to get in the house.
I love how her face lights up whenever she sees her daddy and I love that half giggle that she gives when you ask her if she can say Daddy/da/dada
I love that she could be quiet as a mouse as you walk down the hall to change her but the moment she sees her dad she squeals with delight and tries to jump out of my arms and into his no matter the distance.

I love how excited she gets about solid food - How she loves rice cereal soaked in apple & blackcurrent juice, how she'll only eat orange vegetables (and sometimes peas but only if they're mixed with orange vegetables) - carrots, sweer potato and pumpkin -- most nights I don't know what she's eating - because when I froze them into cubes they all looked the same except for the carrot which was a really bright orange. And since I had one row of carrot, pne row or sweet potato, one row of pumpkin and one row of all three mixed together and the other 3 rows all looked the same colour frozen I just put all the cubes into one bag and hope she's getting a bit of a balance when I pick out a few cubes.

I think my very favourite thing is her laugh - her smile and especially the way she tilts her head to the side and smiles this sweet butter wouldnt melt in my mouth closed mouth smile --- it's adorable.

I Love that she loves to learn -- everything fascinates her -- the smallest thing can keep her entertained for minutes - cracks in the wood floors, leaves, the writing on a piece of material, her own toes, my toes, my dads shoe laces, Nicks/my glasses, the speakers for the stereo, the lights on the stereo, the door handles on the tv cabinet, shadows and blocks of sunlight on the couch or floor.

She tries to crawl - she knows what she's supposed to do - She's sitting up, she puts her hands out onto the floor tries to get her legs out but can't moves her body over moves her hands again, sits up and moves her hands to a different place. Or if shes on her tummy she can get up on her hands and knees but she ends up crawling backwards - she can't grip our wooden floorboards. I've seen her get up on her toes a couple of times -- and its the funniest thing watching her try to crawl with her head bulldozing the floor - it's got to hurt but she doesn't say anything.

I'm more and more fascinated by the things she does everyday - Everything is so new I can't wait to see what she's going to discover tomorrow.

I'm guessing that you love her lotsly... and I think I might just be spot on the money there. Which is just as well considering your relationship to her and all...

It must be fun to be a Mummy!

She sounds an awful lot like Krystal.
I don't think the slippery floorboards are the problem, though, Krystal operates mostly on carpet and has yet to manage forward crawling motion either.
We put her to bed at 9:00 and hope that she'll stay asleep until 6:00. She does wake up earlier, sometimes we awaken to the sound of her cooing and burbling. (And sometimes at 3:00 am to the sound of sobbing or shrieking, but hopefully that'll stop soon.... )

I don't have children (... and for the moment, i'd like to keep it that way!), hell, I don't even have a Puppy (... though I want a Beagle!), but when I do... I want to be as attached to "it" (them?) as much as you are with Elana!

Just not yet...

Thanks Wayne

Hellion - Yeah I think she's alot like most kids her age - I get this newsletter from baby.com every week telling me her progress - sometimes she's spot on, sometimes she's a couple weeks ahead and sometimes she's a week or two behind.
Well I know she finds our floor slippery and hard to grip with feet on her pants/jumpsuits - it's winter and the house is cold but I try and give her some time without feet/socks to try and grip -- she's such a monkey - she uses the slippery floor to her advantage on her bottom. Yesterday I found her almost at the hallway - she'd gone looking for her dad.

Teegs - it's very annoying when you want to talk to a person that isn't online who suddenly pops up with a comment on your blog thus indicating they are in fact online!!!

Mig - Thanks Mig -- She's not much interested in the laptop - prefering the keyboard - and since we gave her her own keyboard that's not plugged in to bang on while she's sitting on Nick's lap -- I just lost that thought..... completely --- Oh I got Elana to write a little message - I'll post it now

Cosmos - I find it amusing that you liken children to dogs - Snoopy was a beagle so your dog would be in good company, I myself am not a big fan of pets and Elana's like a monkey somedays and a cat others -- Thankyou (in a round about way) I hope you ARE "attached" and more importantly that you just love and care for any child that happens to come your way -- and don't forget his/her mother.
