I went shopping with my best friend today which was great and we went to K-mart and Target and all over Indooroopilly ran into my in-laws and had a Boost and a kebab.

I went with the sole purpose of trying to find an outfit for Christmas Day (boxing day actually) with the family and a pair of overalls for Elana to wear to her birthday party at the park.

And do you think I could find anything? NO!

I found some beautiful dresses and pants/top sets in Target, and a gorgeous overall dress at Kmart which I almost bought -- the closest thing to overalls was a pair of denim overalls at pumpkin patch but I could justify the money especially since it didn't come with a top and I could decide between a size 0 and a size 1. So Elana missed out.

There was this faboulous dress I fell in love with at Target that we found in a size 10 for Rin (and she looks Gorgeous - she'll be looking wonderful and fresh on Christmas day with her family) and I put the coathanger of a size 8 over my head and the place where the bust should be was actualy 10cm UNDER my own bust. So that sucked.
A womans size 10 at Target is a Hot Options (teenage) size 12 (so their 8 would be a HO 10) But Rin looks Great!!

So we went to the hot options section and found naught (nothing that would suit a mummy going to a family lunch on christmas)

I found nothing in Kmart, best & less or ICE but I found some nice skirts (no dresses) in Valley girl but I couldn't find a size 6 among them to save my life *sigh*
and wearhouse for fashion also had some nice skirts and a really nice top but again No sixes.

Things were so much easier when I was a 10.

how frustration! the only shops i can think of that really sell your size are valleygirl and wearhouse for fashion etc ("skinny girl shops" ruth used to call them) but for you was no cigar! the only other place i can think of would be myer "petites" or something but i bet the only thing petite about them is the clothes themselves... certainly not the prices!

hope you find something my dear!

or what about tightrope, blockout etc? tightrope is pretty inexpensive but blockout can be exey.

Look I have a hard enough time going INTO ice and valleygirl

I'm a mother - I don't do nightclubs or that teen/adolescent mini-skirt, ripped clothes, peasent tops, revealing barely there. I don't like Wearhouse, or supre or blockout -- I'm a target girl, sometimes I'm a jay-jays girl, mostly I'm a target and best & less girl

On the bright side Nick is taking me dress shopping - Nick who hates clothes shopping is going with me into the exey shops to see if I can find the perfect dress - I love my hubby

Ah the woes of shopping, and trying to look like a 'mom". I am having the same issues with maternity clothes right now, the ones that are affordable, look like somthing my grandma would wear, and the ones that say "young hip momma" are way to much money!

hooray for nick!! that is very sweet of him. i hope you find the right dress

hey janders you should take a leaf out of trina's book -- most of the clothes she wore when she was pregnant weren't special "maternity" clothes (which i reckon they jack up the price on because they're specialty items) but were just larger clothes with the right kind of cut or stretchier material.
