I'm so mad at Mark Holden

Okay Thursday night I watched inside idol to see what they were going to sing on Sunday (last night)

Anthony was going to sing opera - in english and Italian - Anthony is a pop/rock boy - this a big departure and left alot of room for error

Ricki-Lee (RnB - Beyonce, Tina Turner, MJ) would be singing I have Nothing - Whitney Houston

Daniel (opera singer) chose Your Song (moulin rouge/elton john)

Chanel chose Constant Craving - KD Lang

Courtney - my mums favourite song God Only Knows by the Beach Boys

Marty - 80's power ballad Broken Wings (mister mister)

Casey & Hayley both chose George songs (George is an Alternative band from Brisbane)

Okay so Sunday night rolls around and Ricki-Lee is the first cab off the ranks. It was a near perfect imitation of Whitney Houston. If that's what you're looking for then there's your idol right there.

Marty was up next - the judges weren't impressed - I think his time is up.

Next was Hayley - Katie Noonan has no cause for complaint (incidently she was singing the National Anthem at the Grand Final at around the same time Hayley performed.)

Daniel had the perfect mixture of Ewan and Elton and made Your Song Daniel's Song (the judges told him he was boring)

Chanel captivated the audience with her breathy Constant Craving -- Marcia implied she was a s*** - in a round about way. "you do to them exactly what they want you to" - In the last 3 weeks marcia hasn't had one good thing to say about or too Chanel -- yet she's very quick to defend everyone else from any criticism to the point of rudeness and interrupting.

Courtney received an absolutely undeserving tongue lashing.
He sang God Only Knows by the Beahc Boys -- I know this song very very well - it's my parents song (you know they're playing "our song" - they played this at their 25th anniversary renewing of vows among other things)
This week the idols had an orchestra but no backing vocals. God Only Knows relies pretty heavy on back vocals - in parts its a duet. Courtney did an outstanding job arranging this song so it didn't require or sound bad without the backing vocals.
And he was SLAMMED!!!!!!
Mark said it was a beautiful beautiful x40 times song blah blah - he liked it -- and he told Courtney he was ordinary ordinary ordinary - he said it 3 times.
Poor Courtney was holding back tears. (so was Daniel and Chanel during their roasting)

I was ashamed!

Casey sang beauifully as usual

but the outstanding performance was Anthony -- He sang Andrea Boccelli's The Prayer - which is a duet - (Josh Groban & Charlotte Church or Andrea Boccelli Celine Dion are most notable) he sang it solo in both english and italian and did it beautifully and powerfully. It was outstanding because it was a complete and total departure from the other thins he's sung.

Hooberstank The reason, Gimme Some Loving, Rick Price Heaven Knows - what was that other one - Anthony bores me so I never remember him -- but the Prayer was memorable. Up there with Guy's Climb Every Mountain
Those performances were standout because they were unexpected, different and they worked,

I think last night was easily the best so far (inclusive of last year) -- I don't think their were any stand out BAD performances - apart from the appalling behaviour of the judges.

Tonight will be interetsing.

I feel Marty will leave but I don't know who will be bottom 3 with him -- possibly Hayley and Chanel

Ricki-Lee, Courtney and Casey are my predictions for Top 3.

Anthony was good but one good performance does not an idol make -- and those 3 are consistantly GREAT.
