I've been watching Sunrise all morning and the top story of the day is Mark Latham's drop in popularity. People have been emailing the soapbox with their opinion and I just can'tunderstand it.
There's all this talk about Mark Latham's buck's night video - StevePrice from a radio station in Sydney said that they had a caller who has seen the tape and told them off air his personal details (name address relationship to the Labor leader) and what is on this tape. Apparently thefootage is of Mark Latham in a strip-club sitting on a chair holding a beer with a topless girl rubbing her breasts in his face. Shock Horror!!!!!
Call the media - An Aussie man on his BUCKS NIGHT is drinking a beer in a strip club - that'sthe biggest news of the millenium.
Forget Michael Jackson, forget Rene Rifken, forget the war in IRAQ because Mark Latham has been video taped more then 10 years ago in a strip club on his buck's night.
He's been divorced for 6 years - he remarried in 2000 he's got a 3 year old and a 1year old and his political stance is that he's just a typical Aussie bloke.
And all these feminists are emailing Sunrise completely outraged that he could dot his and vowing not to vote for him - it's ridiculous - I've seen raunchier buck's nights on Neighbours (remember Toadie got tied to the pole in his undies) and does anyone remember that Mastercard ad where the guy wakes up naked and handcuffed on a moving train going to the middle of nowhere the morning of his wedding and all he has is a Mastercard?
I don't think this should effect his political chances at all - I doubt John Howard is squeaky clean anyway.
Other things he's been accused of are cheating on his first wife - I'm not saying it's true or untrue but - well what Politician hasn't
King-hitting a constituent - It was 15years ago - true or not why bring it up now - was he charged with assault? Does he have a police record?
I just don't see what the point is and how this could effect the public's vote - None of this stuff has anything to do with his capability of running the country.
