Okay so I don't have much to say - i just didn't like all those poems so I needed a new topic.
I was cringing reading all that rubbish again - how can a 16yo girl think she was so in love with a pointless crush - it was bad.
That kid didn't know what love was.

*sigh*

anyway so this morning apparently ELana got Nick up at 4am and wouldn't let him leave the room - I wouldn't know I was asleep - although I do remember waking up and hearing the music from her fish and thought huh? then I heard Nick talking to her and then I was asleep again - next thing I know Nick's saying trina wake up it's 7am - I'm late.
I was going to have my cocoa pops after I finished giving Elana her bottle but then Nick said "juice?" - so I has a glass of apple juice instead and then forgot.
It's now 11:23am and I'm about to go and have my cocoa pops - cause I've already given Elana her cereal -- she ate 2 tablespoons!!!! and her 2nd bottle and she's currently making her way to the back door - I think - she's heading in that direction

The washing up's done. Bottle's have been made. and since it's Friday there's no blue heelers.

Has anyone read Inheriting Jack ? - It's really good - of a similar nature to the movie Raising Helen - which I saw Tuesday night - which was weird - not the movie just the two book/movie I saw/read having the same subject matter.
I also read Rachel's Holiday (Marian Keyes)- which is almost a sequal to watermelon because its about the same family - it reminded me of the sandra bullock movie 28days
I've got two Marian Keyes books left (last chance saloon & sushi for beginners) and I've got another book called PS I Love You.
I've finished 5 of the 8 library books I borrowed but I don't know if I want to start another one just yet.

Tegan said something to me about dropping by after her exam maybe - who knows

No markets tomorrow.
and no plans for the weekend either - maybe we'll see Nick's parents or one of the boys will come over for dinner/pool *shrugs*

Oh mother & son is on tonight yay Link and that Miss Match show - like Clueless for grownups - it seriously is like Cher has grown up and become a divorce lawyer - I guess it's just ALicia Silverstone - this is the 3rd week it's screened in Aus - I really like it - but I read it got axed in the USA after 11 episodes. But it's still going strong in the UK - not that they made a second series after it was axed in the US - bummer dude

*sigh* - this is a boring blog but I think it's served its purpose for bumping the poetry one out of the way

heya

that poetry was very... memory-bring-back-y. that one night back in, it must have been 2001, sitting on your bed reading the whole box of it. and then we wrote our own little masterpiece... i have no idea where it is but if i find it i might post it. hehehe rocco thought it was about him... he's so adorably self-centred.

sorry i didn't come round today, i was stuffed. exam went well though. talk to you soon

Trina:

I'm dying to read PS I love you simply because there was so much fuss over Cecilia Ahern and whether or not she was getting the attention because she was a good writer or if it was simply because her daddy is Ireland's Taoseaich (sp?). I just can't bring myself to pay $25 for it, as it is only in hardback over here at the moment. I'm going to England in August, so hopefully I will be able to pick it up while I'm there--let me know what you think!

Sushi for Beginners is a great read! One of my favorite Marian Keyes!

I like your 'mundane' blogs, because they remind me that I'm not the only one who has a 'mundane' life.

I just finished reading 'Open House' by Elizabeth Berg and before that I read 'Vinegar Hill' by A Manette Mansay.  Both good books, if you get a chance you should read them.  I'm thinking that we ought to start a JoeU book club...we could decide on what book to read and then have a discussion blog about it.  What do you think?

I had a look at knitting patterns for Elana, and I think I found a hat and mitten pattern that I like.  I have some variagated pink and purple wool or some fuzzy pink stuff...I haven't quite decided which to use yet.

I'll email you tomorrow, I promise.  I'm beat at the moment....I hurt my back again and the pills they gave me for it are wiping me out....

Love,

Dharma

I love that idea, I've always wanted to belong to a bookclub - but it might be hard to find a book we''d all agree on - not to mention getting access to said book
Like Shades was saying about UK books being slow to get to the US....

I know I'm not really in this conversation, but if you start a book club could anyone who wants be in it? That might give me more motivation to read more often! It sounds like a great idea!

Yes, of course!

We don't have to read the latest releases, we could read classics or books that are a couple of years old.

Just a thought.

dharma, I'd be up for it too! I just don't want the pressure of having to choose the book!

Do we like anything the same? (I know Shades and I do)

I was just on Oprahs website looking at what their book club did and what celebrity's like to read -- there's alot of American books I'd never heard of and alot of Jane Austen.
And I found it really funny that all the "white" celebrities liked a whole range of authors from Maya Angelou to that Russian starting with D
and all the "black" celebrities only picked black authors.

Russian starting with D

Dovstoyevski?

Yeah, I like Maya Angelou, but Toni Morrison gets a bot old after a while.  I think that of all the books I read recently, I liked 'Vinegar Hill' by A. Manette Ansay the best.

Tomorrow I have promised myself that I will make a start on 'Anna Karennina' by Leo Tolstoy.  Anyone care to join me?  I'll post a blog about the JU book club idea.

I was so sure I'd written a blog but myabe I was just meaning to and forgot. Anyway I love this scene in Raising Helen so much I cried and cried and cried.

Lindsay (voiceover) Dear Jenny, If you're reading this, you know that I'm gone. And I asked Helen to be the guardian for the kids.
And you're probably freaked about it. Yes, it's a surprising choice, considering that you are the most incredible mother I've ever known. If you find this letter odd, understand that my "always be prepared" Paul convinced me to write it now while our children are young. You must know from experience that when it comes to picking somebody else to raise your kids, no one seems right. No one is you. And so you choose someone who is most like you. Someone that will give the kids a taste of their real mom, the mom they lost and never really got to know. In so many ways, we are so much alike, that's why I chose Helen. Of course, she'll have lots of fights with the kids, yet she'll find a way to make up. I know sometimes she messes things up and makes big mistakes. On the other hand, she also makes big comebacks. Respect her Jenny. Give her a shot. We're family and I'm counting on you to keep everyone together. I know, Helen will certainly need some help learning how to be a mother to my kids, but I've got you for that. And who could be better? After all, you raised Helen, you'll teach her how to be a mom. Just like you taught her how to tie her shoes. I can still hear you telling her, "The bunny goes around the tree, and into the burrow...

Helen Harris : [watches Sarah tie her shoe] Pull tight.
