if there's such a thing

Frankly I find "instant" coffee an abomination..

God's 11th Commandment should have been "Thou shalt not drink powered coffee"

Companies like International Roast, Maxwell House and Pablo - as well as Homebrand, Savings etc should be ashamed of themselves..
I know they make the rubbish they call coffee for people economically challenged but honestly does saving that 2 dollars by buying a 1kg tin of owered coffee really make you feel better then your friend who payed the same amount - say $5 for 300g of a really decent brand like Robert Tims, Vittoria, Moccona or even Nescafe - with "shock horror" granulated coffee, when you compare tastes and your stuck with 1kg of instant coffee...

My apologies to those of you who like the abobve brands - my opinion of that is You obviously don't like coffee as a drink rather then a way to keep you awake... I feel sorry for you - you don't know what you're missing

Granulated coffee - It's still instant, - homebrand actually does make it for those who don't want to buy a ''brand" you still just have to add water (milk, sugar) and no fiddling with plungers, perculators or espresso machines and it actually does still taste decent..

Take this cup of coffee sitting beside me for example - since it is the whole basis of this blog.

I was cold and I felt lazy - I didn't want a cup of coffee bad enough to warrent using the espresso machine -and the only instant coffee we have is blend 43 which we keep for guests we dont like and the bottle of chickory essence I bought for when my dad visits except now he has espresso's lie the rest of us and the chickory just sits there

- so I flicked on the kettle and opened on the of cuban cigar tubes Nick got in a sample from the Nescafe website -- in order to promote their coffee they put 3 of their "exotic" coffees in a box, 3 cigar tubes each with 2 sachets of coffee - Kenjara, Cap Colombie and my personal favourite - alta rica

So I made my coffee - sachet, sugar, milk, water and as and added bonus I put in 2 Nestle dark chocolate melts -- Best Instant coffee ever!!!!!!

really good instant coffee is great but NOTHING beats the power of espresso. how i love it

i'm glad you've never tried pulling the blend 43 *sneeze that sounds strangely like "crap!"* on me -- one because it tastes like rehydrated poo and two because it would make me a 'friend you don't like'

ooooooooo chickory essence is great for making iced coffee but if you wnt hard core stuff. Milk, Ice cream, sugar water, and coffee. The sugar and coffee depends on how many people you are making it for. When i make enough for my mum and I, 4 teaspoons of sugar and two of coffee. *drools* as for hot coffee i have no idea...

Good coffee is worth it's weight in gold--especially good iced coffee. I've recently moved to Washington, DC and the coffee shops around here have the horrible notion that iced coffee is made by pour scalding hot coffee over ice cubes and then handing it to the customer. Ah, no...that just made luke warm really weak coffee thanks!

There should be laws against bad coffee--it's very, very dangerous, as it puts me in a vile, murderous mood!

I drink blend 43 at one of the places I work, but only if it's a really bad day and I need a hit in a hurry - otherwise I'll go for a walk down to get some lovely Merlo, which is the best cafe blend I've found.

That's the only problem with the espresso machine we've got, it requires a tad more effort than instance - makes me wonder whether we should invest in one of the the full auto machines...
