the house needs baby proofing BIG TIME now

Elana's been crawling backwards all day today -- unintentially -- she's actually trying to move forward towards the toys but somewhat humorously she's getting further and further away from them -- actually she's making it to them slowly by going around the mat - but backwards -- it's VERY funny to watch.

Anyway I put her down on the mat before - on her tummy but she wasn't happy so I rolled her onto her back and put her head on a cushion - about 10minutes later I looked over and she was off the cushion and on her tummy -- I didn't think too much of it - assuming that the cushion that was elevating her head assisted her in the rolling over process. -- Anyway she rolled back onto her back and proceded to kick herself around her mat -- anyway I looked up from where I was reading and she was on her tummy!!!!!!!

So I haven't seen her do it -- but I know she can. It's very scary.

I'll have to get Nick onto fixing the gate on the stairs. (I broke it a couple weeks ago when I came running up the stairs with a basket of washing trip up the step and fell into it -- nothing happened to me frightened the heck out of the baby and broke the gate off it's hinges -- kinda comical really)

In other news Elana will be having her first taste of carrots (and farex) this afternoon [second really but yesterday attempt didn't go so well the carrot was kinda shredded more the pureed - she didn't like it -- but we fixed it for this afternoon -very mushy and orange- wish us luck.

****** okay this time I saw it -- she did it twice from back to tummy to back to tummy to back again -- now she's making I'm tired mummy put me to bed motions.

Awww, it's amazing how fast they do things, Madisons becoming so much more mobile now, and now if you say bye bye and wave at her, she waves back, SO cute, hehe! Good luck with the carrots!

The carrots went down better then I expected they would -- almost got a smile as well as an ack-yuck

I remember those times. When they were small, smiling ... immobile. Don't get me wrong, I love my daughters and I want them to experience all the world. But, parents of toddlers, remember when you could put them down on the floor with a rattle, and enjoy a cup of coffee, quietly.

Still, it's summer and I really don't mind hearing "Push me on the swing daddy.".

It seems that we parents spend the first years of our childrens lives teaching them to walk and talk and the next 16 or so wishing they'd sit down and shut up....

Seriously, it's wonderful to watch them grow and develop.  I'll never forget Lonesome being about in tears the first time Davey waved goodbye to him.  He was leaving to go to work on a mid-shift, and Davey was all ready for bed (he was about 8 months old, I suppose).  We stood at the door was Lonesome was walking to the car and he said "bye, little man" and waved to Davey...and Davey opened and closed his little fists and waved his little hands around too!  Lonesome came back and hugged him and had tears in his eyes and said he didn't want to go to work anymore, he just wanted to stay home with his wife and kids...

*sigh*..now I'm all broody again...
