About half an hour ago (or less) I called Nick on his mobile to make sure it was okay with him if my dad picked us up on his way through from work and take us to dinner instead of us walking to the resturaunt.

Then like 5 minutes ago he calls and asks me if I'm going out this afternoon - I say no he says okay I'll be home in about 45minutes - I say okay I love you hang up and go to take the rubbish to the bin and as I'm bringing the bin in off the kerb it suddenly strikes me as odd that Nick is coming home in the middle of the afternoon (it's 1:50pm) instead of at 5:30pm

Now this morning he told me he'd like to take the day off to be with me on my birthday but he couldn't he was so busy and he'd be home about 5/530 - I said that's fine I didn't expect you to take the day off for my birthday and Nick was lamenting that he'd like a job where he could set his own hours - say start at midday and finish at 8pm - "because sometimes I just don't feel like coding at 9am"

Now I'm half worried something's happened for him to be coming home early.

I know this is gonna sound so like an aussie its not even funny, but no worries mate...

Im sure if hes coming home so early then he has a good reason. And what you mean you didnt expect him to come so home early on your B-day... maybe its me but man if its my girls b-day I would be off that way ahead of time... thats a special day.
