Major Frustration!

Trying to get a males opinion

OKay so I have this 21st party to go to tonight. I had a baby 5 months ago and I have nothing in my closest that fits or looks nice (IMO) - I didn't gain any weight - pre pregnancy I was 56kg during pregnancy I got as high as 70kg and post pregnancy I'm 48kg - which I haven't been since grade 10 I've gone from a 10 to a 12 to a 6 in a year.
And the problem with this is the stores I like to buy clothes from - Target, K-Mart, Best & Less don't have anything less then an 8 (a 10 in some things) in the women's section. Which means you have to meander over to the "Hot Options" teens side with the size 4's 6's and 8's as wells as 10's-16's but the clothes they stock are just not me - short mini skirts, off the shoulder tops, figger hugging butt showing hipster jeans - think the stuff Britney wears and I've never liked that stuff.
I prefer the style of the older Actresses - smart casual - classy

Anyway so I found a whole heap of tops in a range of colours I like at Best & Less on sale the other day when I went shopping with friends - I laybyed 3 of the 8 to choose from - but I laybyed my stuff with a friends - so I can't get it out - Problem.
Solution - buy another colour to wear to the party - wear it with your old crepe pants.

Problem - which colour? Black? Purple? Blue? (you have the red and cream on layby and Nick said the pink looks like a grandma)
I know - Ask Nick!

ARGH!!!!!! major frustration - I spent like half an hour trying to get a response - nothing - and I still don't know what to do.

Black on Black is sliming and classic
but colour on black is also nice

then like 15 minutes later he says

what do you mean how'd i go?

i havent been shopping yet
Trina says:
i'm still trying to figure out if i should go alll black with jewellry to break it up or black pants and colour

and I'm still waiting for a response.

solution: get a girl's opinion

or better yet... go shopping with a girl -- go shopping with me! hey it just occurred to me that that might be what that missed call on my phone was about...?

the short answer from tegan (read: the girl who has no fashion sense in trina's opinion but anyway

) is get a colour. you're already thin, you don't need black-on-black slimming. purple always looks nice. still wear the gold.

second question: anything further on gift ideas?

*slaps self about the head* I can't believe I was just piecing together an outfit for you! How gay of me! But I like shopping! Too bad I missed the boat and you're probably already home from the party. All the same... I would have said black top and crepe pants with the gold. Too much black and you could look like a waitress but I'd doubt that with the gold.

What can I say? I'm strange. Wee-ord even.

Aw thanks Wayne!

- actually I went with none of the above - I got a striped top I had liked previously but wasn't in stock the day I went shopping but was miraculously there yesterday afternoon - it was a pinky purple and white and striped down to black then I had my black pants and my black strappy shoes.

my explanation doesn't do it justice - but boy was THAT an interesting party!!

BTW - did I tell you I'm cancelling the picnic and having just the State of Origin party on the 26th - it'll be a BBQ and it's 2 days after my 21st (my picnic was my lame attempt at not having a birthday - but too many people remembered damn having friends who care!!!

) so yeah State of Origin BBQ thing at my house Wednesday 26th - and I don't know what they're going to do about Merrick & Rosso maybe it will be after?
