OKay so today is ANZAC day and Nick decided that this was probably going to be his last chance to march in the parade since he wasn't going to be teaching the drums at BBC after this year and since he hasn't been along to a pipeband rehersal in I can't remember how long - what with having a baby and moving and staying up late on Saturday nights having people over etc he just hasn't been going to practices - I mean they are in Brunswick in the church next to the RNA Showgrounds its kinda a ways to go.

Oh - background sorry - Nick my husband is a drummer with a pipeband - he used to go to BBC (Brisbane Boys College) and now he tutors the drummers on a Friday afternoon. He was in the QLD Police Youth Pipes & Drums - which was the number 1 Juvenile band in the State possibly the country - I can't remember - then he joined St Andrew's which I think is the number 2...... *shrugs* relevance - ANYWAY as I said because of the stuff at home he hasn't been involved with either so it's pretty much a given that Nick's not really doing much with pipeband anymore,

Today as I said earlier is Anzac day - and there will be a big parade in the city - and BBC pipeband are just one of the many "floats" and the friday before last nick decided he wanted to march with them - sort of like one last hurrah.

So this morning at 6am we got up - I gave Elana her bottle and he did something on the computer.
At round about 8am he had dragged me downstairs to keep him company while he ironed his shirt when he asked me the time - 8:10am - "Dad and James will be here in half an hour - Crap I still have to have a shower etc"

Not to mention put on the skirt and all the trimmings. Then he realised he was missing his old collegians tie so I had to hunt around in about 12 boxes to find that 10 minutes later when I come out dejected for not having found it I see that Nick has already found it.

Luckily Kim & James were a bit late too cause he never would have been ready.

But I digress - Have you ever seen a Man in a full Scottish band outfit - he had his kilt which was a given, and he had his shoes and socks on but over the socks he put these red/white checked woolen leg warmer type things over them he had these little tags over his shoes he had what look like socks but just cover the top of the shoe.
He had his belt and he had his sporan - which was different tothe sporan he had for the other band he was in - that on was like a leather pouch with a clip that you could put stuff in - he used to have his wallet phone keys and lollies. this sporan today was just a flat piece of silver with a thislte on it and all this blonde and black horse hair hanging down off it.

At the time Elana was lying on the floor crying because she was tired so I picked her up to put her into her bed for a sleep she was still whimpering until she saw Nick she looked at him with this puzzled look then giggled.

I think she summed it up nicely. Her daddy looked funny

I really think I know how the wife of a drag queen must feel.
