**Edit*** -- Inspired by Muggaz' Australia the 53rd (although he possibly meant 51st?) State article I wanted to update this blog an highlight just the programs that are still being screened in bold and the programs being repeated in bold italics.

I was watching Rove Live last night and I fell asleep typing this blog in my head.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm like a total tv nut. My mother-in-law tells me I'm wasting my talents and should be an entertainment journalist because I'm always bombarding everyone with irrelevant trivial facts about people - mostly how they connect - like I said in Mugz blog "its a hobby of mine to watch American/Uk movies/tv and play "spot the Australian" " for example madpoet said he liked Olivia Newton John - one of her biggest hits was Honestly Love You - that song was written especially for her by ex pat Peter Allen who was married to Liza Minnelli who is Judy Garland's daughter (incidentally Judy's other daughter Lorna was in Grease 2!) The role of Peter is currently being played on Broadway by another well known Aussie Hugh Jackman in the Boy from Oz - That role was played by Todd McKinney in Australia and the UK and although he's been in just about every big budget theatrical production in Aus he wasn't well known enough for the Americans.

I digress - I Love Australian television in particular and I was thinking how cool it would be to have one or three channels entirely devoted to Australian movies, dramas & soaps and comedies.
There's so much quality that's being shown in so many other countries but not the USA.

The UK's had our soaps for years - Neighbours (1985) and Home & Away (1988) have been going strong here for 20 and 15 years respectively.

[this is another subject entirely but - You love The Wiggles right??? So why on Earth don't you like Hi-5? I mean you liked the concept and the songs!!! But rather then have the Australians and our accent on your tv's you made your own hi-5 - it's crazy!]

Anyway so like 3 channels with Aussie stuff (I should put this to Rupert Murdoch - he's an ex pat Aussie!)

Indeed. Your talents are being wasted. If you can remember all those shows off the top of your head, you must have a mind like a steel trap (or at least a ready blank cassette in the video recorder that is your mind at all times). I loved Bullpitt! "Someone should blow cats up!". Good News Week, Lano & Woodley Don't forget your toothbrush, Ferals, Mr Squiggle! Oh the memories! Never was much of a TV person but I loved these shows.

But how about Jimoin? Does that make the cut? I used to go insane waiting every week for the song at the end of his show. I recorded every one and put them all on tape to play in the car. How I lost it I have no idea.

Thanks for taking me back
