When 2 out of 3 marriages ends in divorce, do you ever wonder who the 1 is and what makes them different?

My Mum and Dad. I thinnk the difference is riding out the shit together and being philosophical about it.

It is way more complicated than that though, my Mum was married twice before spo maybe a certain level of maturity is needed too.

i think talking together and actually working at the friendship and making it a priority... i also think many marriages fall apart that could have been saved, just because the support wasn't there for the couple when they needed it. i know several couples who came hours away from divorcing and who separated who now are so happy together... and they got back on track because of the support of their family/ friends/ church.

good question though.

Humility.

I also think that there are marriages that should be broken up but aren't - because the support isn't there for the couple. Seriously, there are some screwed up relationships out there, sometimes separation is the best option.

Well, for my folks it's because there's no way out (for mum). Sad, but the truth. She tried to leave once, but got suckered back in and is now incredibly stuck. Not really special, just screwed.
